Comments from Agnes Houston, who has dementia.
Agnes and her husband Alan, who live in Glasgow, stayed at Torvaig in July 2009. Agnes is a member of the Scottish Dementia Working Group.
"It was the most relaxing holiday we have ever had.
The facilities were excellent, the signage is great and very useful.
The garden is beautiful and very relaxing and the whole ambience of the place is very dementia friendly.
It was really easy to get around by public transport. We had a lovely time visiting Banff, Macduff and Portsoy boat show, where we met Alex Salmond (Scotland's First Minister).
It (Torvaig) is a great idea, really thinking outside of the box. It offers a real alternative to the usual respite breaks on offer.
I love the clock in the bedroom that lights up and tells me the time.
I have problems with spatial awareness so the things that helped me were the natural lighting, the amount of artificial lighting and the strong, sturdy furniture that didn't move."
